The topic of the Ferguson riots has been a hot issue in the last year and I want to give my side on it. Although I believe the officer who shot Michael Brown was not right in what he did, I do NOT believe in the way people have reacted. Why would more violence solve a problem caused by violence? I believe these people are irrational hoodlums that are only trying to make the problem worse. We are all one people, why must we act out on one another with such violence due to the color of our skin. If people had enough sense and self restraint to sit down and discuss the issue in a reasonable way we may be able to find a solution.
Reggae music has dramatically changed since I was composing music. Although reggae will never die, I have a fear that it has been poisoned. Where is the soul? Where is the heart? So many new reggae bands have lost focus on the true meaning of the feeling.
I must not speak poorly to all of reggae as there are still some choice groups that have kept the fire alive. One group that has really caught my interest is Aaron Kamm and the One Drops. Their music connects back to the roots of reggae and puts other new groups to shame. Their 2012 album The Bomb and the Beast has a beautiful message and gives me hope for the future of reggae. I only hope other bands will follow in their path. “FOOTBALL IS A WHOLE SKILL TO ITSELF. A WHOLE WORLD. A WHOLE UNIVERSE TO ITSELF. ME LOVE IT BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO BE SKILLFUL TO PLAY IT! FREEDOM! FOOTBALL IS FREEDOM.” A new age of football is upon us! I see new players Gareth Bale and Steven Gerrard racking up points for their home countries. The way they play, it is like they are floating across the field. These players have inspired me to get back out onto the field to play a bit more in my old age. My finesse and speed is gone, but my skills with the ball still remain! Football has always been a huge part of my life and I don't know what I would do without it. Thankfully their are still great players pushing the sport forward and keeping the soul of the sport strong.
